What’s actually involved
Most full-size hot tubs need a dedicated
240-volt, 40–60 amp circuit run from your panel to an outdoor spa disconnect (a small weatherproof sub-panel with GFCI protection) mounted within sight of the tub but at least 1.5 m away from the water. From there, wiring runs to the spa’s control pack. The circuit must be GFCI-protected, correctly sized to the manufacturer’s spec sheet, and the tub itself must be
bonded — connected to the surrounding metal and rebar so no voltage difference can develop where people stand in bare feet.
