Frequently asked questions
Why not just use the cloud?
The cloud is great for some things. Private infrastructure wins when your data is sensitive, you want predictable costs, or you need AI to keep working when the internet doesn’t.
Which size do I need?
Most organizations start with an Edge Rack or Edge Room. Containers make sense when you have no suitable space or need a self-contained, movable unit. Take the readiness quiz or book an assessment.
Is it electrically approved?
Yes. On-site builds are installed to code under a Technical Safety BC permit. Shipped units are field-evaluated to CSA SPE-1000 by an accredited inspection body and labelled before delivery.
Do we need a permit for a container?
Rules vary by municipality and zoning. We help you confirm what your site needs.
Do we own it?
Yes. You own the hardware; management is a monthly service.
What happens to the heat?
It can be ducted to heat an adjacent space in cold months.

What is an edge data centre?
A small data room close to where data is created and used, instead of in a distant cloud facility. Pfitztech Edge builds them from a single rack up to a shippable container.
How long does a build take?
It depends on the size and the site. The assessment ends with a written schedule. Rack and room builds are usually the quickest; containers need shop time, testing and delivery.
Can you work with our existing IT team or provider?
Yes. Pfitztech designs, builds and monitors the infrastructure and works alongside your IT team or provider. You keep full admin access.
